Life Line

Being diagnosed with cancer and having 2 tumours removed within a period of 2 months apart in April and June 2014 was not easy to digest but I had to make a choice and giving up was certainly not one of them. Self-pity was also not a choice and I have decided to make it public by sharing it with my friends and family on Facebook as part of my own healing process. My personal choice was easy – I want to LIVE LIFE every second, every minute and every hour and besides the latter, I personally have so many things that I still want to do and to achieve in my LIFE – Thus giving up is not in the cards.

Whilst undergoing treatment at the Little Company of Mary’s Oncology Department I soon realised that each person reacts differently to the shock and treatments and I had a lengthy discussion with my GP and Oncologist about the life span of people diagnosed with cancer.

Their response was mutual, quite simple and yet logical – For some patients the shock and the treatments are simply too much and after 2 months they just give up on the treatments, give up on LIFE and most importantly give up on HOPE.

Undergoing Radiotherapy to prevent the tumour from growing again was quite scary and the after effect is a burning and painful sensation but necessary. Unfortunately it does have its negative side effects, but it’s a small price to pay.

HOPE = There are people much worst off. So next time you see the scars in the mirror remember…
